Flame Control Exterior Guard Basecoat Flat Latex Paint is available in White and Black and is manufactured in accordance with U.S. Federal Specification TT-P-001932. This product is designed for use on exterior surfaces where it is either necessary or preferred to reduce the surface burning characteristics of the substrate. It dries quickly to a flat matte finish having the appearance of a conventional flat paint. When exposed to heat or flame, Exterior Guard Basecoat intumesces (puffs up) forming a dense cellular foam layer which reduces the penetration of heat, thus retarding flame spread. May be tinted at 2 ounces of colorant per gallon maximum.
Must be top coated with Exterior Guard Topcoat to provide protection from the elements.
Tested to ASTM E-84 and ULC S-102 (when applied to Douglas Fir)
